An American test of your academic English across four skills, mostly used for university admission. Since 21 January 2026 there's a new version:
- Shorter: About an hour and a half instead of two hours
- New score: From 1 to 6, with the 0–120 score alongside for a transition period
- Reading: Adapts to your level
- Listening: Adapts to your level
- Writing: On a computer
- Speaking: You record your voice

What TOEFL score do I need for a master's in Jordan?
It depends on your field: usually 59, 69 or 90, and the result must come from an approved test centre. The full table is on the "English for master's admission" page below.
What's the difference between TOEFL and IELTS?
Both test the same four skills. TOEFL is used mostly by American universities, and IELTS mostly for the UK, Australia and immigration. Ask the place you're applying to which one they accept.
How many lessons do I need to prepare for TOEFL?
It depends on your current level and the score you need. In your first lesson, the tutor assesses your level and tells you roughly how many lessons you'll need.
